The main issue was to find a solution to digitize extremely large historical maps in a very gentle way. The product of choice is the VERSASCAN 36100 which allows to capture documents up to 2.5 meters length in one scan. Afterwards the digital files will be archived on microfilm for long-term preservation. For this purpose the customer acquired the newly designed SMA 51 8K Archive Writer. Due to its superb quality and very high resolution it is possible to properly archive those large originals without any loss of information.
